How to Install Peel and Stick Tile Checkerboard Flooring

The first step in installing peel-and-stick checkerboard flooring is to clean and dry the subfloor to make it dust-free and smooth. To ensure a uniform layout, find the center of the room by snapping chalk lines both vertically and horizontally. Remove the backing from the first tile and firmly position it in the center junction. As you work outward in a checkerboard pattern, switch up the colors and make sure the edges are neatly aligned. For a clean fit, use a utility knife and straightedge to cut edge pieces. To increase adhesion, use a floor roller to roll the whole floor, then steer clear of heavy traffic for a full day.
